A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركات

Have you heard a story (or maybe a made up story) of a service engineer request $100,000 over a simple solution found by him that a tool needed to be removed as of because it made a rotary machine stops, the whole plant in halt? He was asked about that huge amount, and he simply replied that he may take 10 minutes to solve the problem but he has gone through 20-30 years of troubleshooting plus some years of education to do that.

And I just met a similar case for today. Basically, last week, I was given a task to iron out an issue of LED at one of my client's site which is long due from the completion date. Some LEDs are observed flickering like there's a party going on in the office and sometimes it occurs randomly. Many came to check this issue but nothing improved. I brought a Phillips specialist with 27 years of experiences and by a single test, he can easily identify the load and power distribution caused by workmanship issue and drew on a tissue later during lunch hour as seen below. Of course, I was amazed since no one, from our client side, my senior colleagues, chargeman and wireman didn't notice this simple parallel/series issue which is a high school homework..

As the title says, a smooth sea never made a skilled sailor and sometimes in life, although we are certified over a field, please don't belittle a small thing as we tend to underestimate the influence of little things. In my case, I need to study the contract terms, hopefully, no LAD imposed!
